London | 4 months

EN: Since the 19th of September, last week, it has been four months since I moved to London. Time freaking flies!
It has been four months since I said goodbye to my friends and family for the forth time and this time it was "for good". It doesn't mean that I won't see them ever again but that I will spend less time with them and probably miss out in a lot of good moments. With my other abroad experience I would be away for a few months and then go back to Portugal for a few months as well but now I won't be able to stay in Portugal for very long but also because I want to be able to explore other countries which has always been a dream of mine. My plan is to go to Portugal this Summer because I have a friend's wedding and my friend's daughter christening so let's see how things go.
Right now I'm thankful that I have a job, even though it's far from my dream job, I don't even earn enough so that I can live comfortably and pay for a bedroom + extra bills + public transport. I'm very lucky that I have family in London and they let me live with them until I get settled.
It is time to start looking for a better job! Something with better scheduled, 9AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday and most importantly with a better pay check.
2014 hasn't been easy breezy for me, besides some personal shenanigans that I'm going through, recently my cousin's father passed away and then this weekend one of my best friends father also passed away, plus a family member of mine had to be rushed to the hospital, sssooooo it has been intense and stressful month.
I won't lie that sometimes I second guess my decision to move to London but I know that overall it was for the best.
xoxo

London | STOMP

EN:  I'm going to try and do a new segment on my Blog. Since I'm living in London and every now and then I visit new places, I thought I might as well share it with you. So these type of posts will be named "London | (the name of the place or show)". Let me know if you would like more of these kind of posts.
I will start with a show that I watched on my second day in London, it was STOMP! I've known about STOMP for years but this was the first time that I actually saw them perform live. A friend of mine had some tickets because some else gave them to her, so the four of us went to see it. The show was at the Ambassadors Theatre located in West Street (WC2H 9ND), the place is about 100 years old and the closest Underground stations are Leicester Square or Covent Garden.
If I'm not mistaken the show started at 20:00 and it was about an hour and 40 minutes, it was a very small venue and we weren't aloud to film or take pictures, so I'm very sorry I don't have anything to show you but I can tell you that it was AMAZING!
While I lived in Prague I lived with a ballet dancer, so I know that she had to train/rehearsal almost everyday and then even perform at night the same day so I can only imagine how many hours they have to rehearsal per day, they probably have different casts, so is not always the same group performing every night.
The show was mind blowing for me and the fact that they make music out of ANYTHING, literally anything, from a bag, a box of matches, (cigarette) lighter, newspapers, garbage cans, tubes, brooms, etc etc. And the amount of energy that they have... I want to know what do they eat that gives them so much energy!
Sometimes the audience "participated" in the show, and by this I mean that we imitated their claps... yeah my hands kinda hurt in the end, so avoid having many rings on your hands haha.
Oh and also, avoid the front row (the closest to the stage) because you might end up taking a shower. There was one part of the show that they use water and there was a moment of SPLASH ssoooo yeah, the people sitting in the front row most likely got wet.
Honestly I wouldn't mind watching it again, if things go well for me I might even go again. The ticket prices go from £20 to £55. As a souvenir I bought some pins.

Musical Friday #119

EN: Salutations from Great Britain!
Oh guys what a journey! I've been here for a week now, and in case you didn't know I don't have a laptop so I have to use my cousin's one.
Let me take you back to last Wednesday (18th of Sept.). I woke up early in the morning and went to the hairdresser to cut my hair. At the beginning I thought that the man did a fairly good job but now I'm seeing waayyy to many layers for my taste -__-. After that I spent the rest of the day at home packing the rest of my little stuff till 2:00AM uuuffffff.
On the 19th, the day of my journey I woke up at 7:30AM, got ready and left my house at around 9:30AM and I still had to buy some bag lockers because I couldn't find any of the 3 that I have -_-. So I bought that and a bag-belt. Once we were at the airport and I did my check-in and after a bit I went to the waiting room. So we had to take a bus to get to our plane and once we were in the bus we went to our plane, stayed there 30 seconds and then went back to where we were... WTF? Then the Lady said that the airplane didn't have any cabin crew. After 3 minutes we went back to the airplane and that's when I noticed.... there were like four to five babies in the plane... UUUWWWHHAATTT????? And 3 of them were close to me.... Lord have mercy.....
After like 3 hours flying we had to stay in the air for half an hour and my ears couldn't deal with it anymore.
So after we landed, I picked up my bag aaaaaand guess what? It was damaged, it was ripped on the side. Luckily since I worked for a airline in the past I knew exactly what to do. So I went to the counter and filled a paper and they gave me a new bag straight away, I was quite surprised. My bag was from Vaag, light blue, medium size, I bought it in 2010 but I never used it, this was the bag's first journey ever :S. They gave me a bigger bag in black, so I went to a corner to transfer all my stuff to the new bag and I had to leave my blue bag behind since I was going home by train and not by car.
After I left the bag area, the first thing I did was to go to Costa Coffee - ooohhh I've missed you so much - got a Cappucino and then went to the Underground. At one point in my journey I had to chain trains and as I getting out of the train my small pink trolley handle (the one that goes up and down) BROKE! OMG are the Gods of the Bags against me today? But I did manage to get home, bless the two gentleman that helped me carry my new massive black bag up the stairs.
On Friday I spent most of my day unpacking and at night a friend of mine invited me and my cousin to go watch the show STOMP. It was sooooo good! Unfortunately we were aloud to take photos.
On the next day I went to visit another cousin of mine and stupid little Karen forgot to "bip" her Oyster card (travel card) on the machine and of course that day the train was full of security guys and I got a £40 fine, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Oh well, other than that, I've been at home, starting to apply for jobs and etc... so I will leave you with some music now.

Quick post! #5

On my way to London.
Hello everyone! Yes I’m still alive, and No I didn’t forget about you guys :).
Soooooo yeah as you know I’m in London, so far so good. I arrived on Saturday, got my 2 bags, nothing was lost :D. I was so tired, a family member of mine picked me up, damn talk about a big journey, all the way from London’s Heathrow airport (on one side of London) till basically the other side of the city pppfffff. That same day that I arrived I went later on to a Bday of someone, ggeeezzzz, you can imagine how dead I was.
On Monday it was my first day at the company, learned a few things, and now I’m doing it. The people there are nice, the office is quite small compared to my internship experience in Prague. But is the same vibe in terms of international people (or at least European).

Is time to PACK!

Here I go again! In just like 2 days and a half I will be flying early in the morning to London >.<.
God I still can't believe it's happening, and still I have so much shiz to do. I haven't been able to Blog as much as I wanted for this year so far, but I really been busy, going here and there to buy stuff, take care of other stuff before I leave, and now I have to start packing.
I'm not a light traveler, I'm defo one of those people that when they travel they take their house behind haha -_-.
You would assume that with all the travelling I've been doing for the last 3 years I would have the type of situation dominated LIKE A BOSS, but not quite.
This week I "discovered" two like beauty Youtubers/Bloggers from the U.K., and as I watched their hauls videos of clothes and makeup I started thinking.... "huummm I don't need to take all my handbags, much makeup, many this and that, 'cause I won't control myself and I'm defo gonna SHOP over there muuuhahaha". So by watching their video it made me rethink what I'm going to take with me to London.
Okei, of I go now, to continue with the packing, tomorrow I have to run some more errands >.< uuuff!

Finally the fuss is over... well...

EVERYBODY talking about the Royal wedding the Royal wedding, buuuhhuuhu My William is getting Married AARRGGHHH >.<
So as you might have noticed today was the Royal Wedding (29 April 2011) of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
I was able to see a bit of the ceremony in the morning, because they were broadcasting on Youtube. Oh yes on Youtube…I didn’t even know there was a Royal Youtube Channel….. and it’s about 3 years old haha.
Catherine wedding dress was nice, clean cut, it suited her very well. Simple but still trés chic :P
The dress was from Sarah Burton for the Alexander Mcqueen house.
Long Lived the (Mc)Queen!
Now what... I guess people spend another month talking about the wedding dress, the guest list, and what they were wearing, lot's of interesting hats, and the "party", and were will the newlyweds spend their Honeymoon.

Double B-day (2010)

So last weekend (18 of April) was my birthday, Hurraayyy now I'm 24 -_-' lol, never thought I would get this far XD. My B-day was on a Sunday, and on Saturday it was my friend's Zuzana B-day (she turned 21). So we decided to do a Double B-day.
Two weeks before the Birthdays, I sent a message through Facebook to our Erasmus friends, to ask them if any of them would like to join us for the Double B-day. Me and Zuzana weren't expecting many people because it was Easter holidays, everybody goes to their home country bla bla bla. But surprisingly about 11 people came plus other 5 that I didn't knew lol for the dinner.
So yeah, on Saturday, I did my pampering, pseudo-spa treatment, washing my hair, shaving lol, exfoliate my body and my face, then I did blow dry and straighten my hair. After finishing that, I went to Zuzana's house, and helped her blow dry and crimp her hair, and I also did her eye make-up, and I used false eyelashes for her, it it looked awesome. Then I did my make-up, but no false eyelashes :P
Dinner was at 8pm I think, so we left the house (me, Zuzana, and Maria) around 7:40pm. Arrived at the restaurant at 8:01pm lol, we were the 1st, so that was good, Oh the name of the restaurant is The Citi, is a buffet restaurant with, Thai, Chinese, Indian, and Italian food (what the hell is Italian food doing in that mix lol), then in the following minutes the rest of the people arrived. It was a nice dinner.

After dinner, we went to my and Zuzana's favourite nightclub in Nottingham Dogma >.<>

Then on Sunday, for my B-day, it was a more chill'out celebration. We went to Alboretum Park around 4pm, and had a picnic, and the 2 French girls, each one baked a cake :P Juliette did a chocolate cake and Axelle a nuts cake, they were both delicious nom nom nom.

Thank you all for coming, and thanks to all that wished me a happy B-day, specially my friends from back home, that couldn't be here <3

Never go to a Kebab shop at late hours

Once upon a time 4 girls went to their favourite local nightclub called Dogma. Karen (that's me), Zuzana, Eva, and Kamila.
Karen was the 1st one to arrive, she stayed outside Dogma, waiting for the other girls. On that night there was a queue at Dogma's door, which was rare to happen. Then the other 3 girls arrived, they entered, and Karen notice something odd going on inside, about 3 or 4 Dogma's employees were cleaning the floor o_Ô huh? Did someone spild a jug of Vodka on the floor? Nope, there wasn't it, on the 1st floor of Dogma it's the toilets, and probably something happen with the pipes and then shiz happened >.< . So the girls had a drink, and then went downstairs to dance. They dance the night away, great music that night, and of course as always an occasional guy, that just stands there on the dance floor, “looking around” with their leather jacket on and also the occasional guys fighting and then the security comes along, break the fight and take the guys out.
After having fun at the nightclub the 3 Russian girls (Zuzana, Eva and Kamila) [there are not Russian, they're from Slovakia] were feeling hungry, so all 4 went to a Kebab shop that was close to another bar called Bodega. It was around 3am. It was a very small place and it was kinda full of hungry people. So the girl ask for a burger with chips and a pizza and they stayed at the Kebab place to eat. There were some young teenagers in there, one of them all happy 'cause it was his B-day, and he turned 18. Some minutes later, those teenagers left and two guys started to fight, God knows why. At first we thought, “Oh it's going to end soon.”, but no, it didn't, the owners of the Kebab place, didn't manage, or didn't have the balls to fully separate those guys and take them outside, so the guys kept fighting, and moving towards were we were sitting, and it got to the point that Karen and 3 Russian girls, got stuck in a corner and couldn't get away. Karen was in front of the 3 Russian girls, the guy that was being punched (let's mark him as “A”) was close to the girls and the guy that was punching (let's mark him as “B”) was punching “A” and also throwing him tables and chairs. The girls were screaming, “STOP! STOP!”, but Mr.B nothing, kept on throwing, and unfortunately for Karen she also got smacked with the chair, on the arm and legs.... Then another guy, let's call him Mister Golden Teeth, opened Karen's handbag probably trying to find her wallet to steal but unlucky for him Karen only had her boots and umbrella inside the handbag (the important stuff, keys, money, and documents, were with Karen in another small purse) Karen ran towards Mister Golden Teeth direction, screaming “LEAVE MY BAG!” and took her handbag of his hands, and he didn't fought about it, just ran away. At the same time all of them ran, leaving behind a crashed Kebab shop, with a guy bleeding from his mouth, and a bruised girl. The 4 girls immediately left the place and a bruised in pain Karen began to cry....
The girls went home, Karen undressed herself to see the state of her body and she had a swollen left arm, and bruises on both legs. She put ice on her arm so that the swelling didn't get worse. On the next morning Karen had “black bruises” on her body, you can see on the pictures below. Also you can see a drawing of the Kebab place. Conclusion....Karen is never going to a Kebab shop, specially at night, specially that one close to Bodega.

A pseudo-hero for a couple of minutes

Sunday, 28 of March, my friends and I decided to go out to a park and have a picnic. So since we need it "picnic food" we went shopping at our local ASDA :P
When we were almost finished, I bumped into a little Asian girl, and I said "OH I'm sorry.", and I notice that the girl was sad, and I thought that I had hurt her in someway...
- OH, did I hurt you?!?!
- I lost my mommy... - said the little girl... I kinda panicked, then a man came and started talking, and I thought for a moment that he was her father, but he was saying...
- Take the little girl to a employee.
Luckily a Asda employee was right there next to us and by this time he noticed also that the little girl was lost. So I asked the girl's name, she answered crying, Natasha it was, and I told her mine. So the Asda employee told me to follow him and take the girl with me, so I grabbed her hand, and the Asda employee told someone on his walky-talky about the little girl, I tried to calm the girl, saying that everything was going to be alright, that we were going to find her mommy. As we were approaching the Costumer Service place, her father appeared "NATASHA!" he said, he looked really P.O., poor girl just ran into her father's arms crying. So I went to meet up with my friends, and heard the Asda guy saying that it was the 3rd that this has happen in a week....
If I hadn't bumped into the little girl, I would probably not notice her, because my friends didn't and in a way , here in the U.K. we are used to seeing little kids, in one part of a place and the parent on the other, and the parent don't look that much concerned about it... which is horrible in my opinion.
One word.... pedophiles.... I'm just saying.

Desperately in need of my Spring Break...

Yeah that's it, I need a big fat break.... Lots of stuff going on, and all at once. Like that saying in Portuguese "Quando uma coisa vai abaixo, vai tudo abaixo" it's basically, "When one thing falls, everything else falls", and it's not little things, it's actually big shiz -_-
I wanna sleeeeeep 'till late hours. I'm Le Tired. But then again if I do that, the day has passed away, and time really flies fast in this country (U.K.). One of the craziest, weirdest things I had to get use to it was the fact that in winter, when other people say to you that at 4:30pm is basically night, it is TRUE. And by 5pm is completely night, I'm not joking. So imagine that you wake up late lets say 1pm, before you know it's 4:50 and it's night... but technically is still "day" get it?
Most people are going home for Spring Break, I'm staying here.... big lack of money. And a lot of studying to do -_-
Oh well one of many thing I have to get use to.
I'm off to bed guys....

At Casablanca

After my classes today (16-3-2010) I went to friends Zuzana's and Maria's house, a.k.a. La Casablanca :P.
First I dyed Zuzana's hair blond ^_^ and then I became a cleaning freak >.< I helped Zuzana clean her W.C. and Kitchen, 'cause she's having her sister plus a friend over. Then I had a snack and did by daily English homework of writing a resume of a News per day. So far is going well, because I'm writing about things that I like, such as MUUSSIICCC, it's always better then writing about, bombs, politicians and shiz, those things are depressing -_-
And now I'm in bed with Zuz, she's booking her flying tickets to Slovakia for the Easter holidays :P
Mutxos fannós no?

BEST CLASS EVAAARRR :P

Yeeeaahhhhh \o/ So today I had a class from 9am 'till 10am. Woke up, didn't felt like getting out of bed like always on a Monday morning, but since I can't miss more classes, I got up, did my stuff and went to Uni. Once I got there, apparently it was video session today, but the VCR wasn't working, ssooooo 5 minutes later, class dismissed huurraayy. So I came back home, since I have a 4 hour gap and thank God I only live 10 minutes away from Uni by foot :P
